The "Uhupfad" circular hiking trail leads for the most part along the Sauerland-Höhenflug long-distance hiking trail (Wanderbares Deutschland quality trail). It branches off from the Squirrel Trail and shows you a lot about the local birdlife over 2.3 km.
From the forest stadium, follow the Squirrel Trail via Hexentanzplatz to the Falkenlei refuge if you want to explore the Eagle Owl Trail in a clockwise direction. Climb downhill along a narrow path and continue to an information board about bird calls. You can listen to the birds using QR codes.
Pass a large insect hotel and continue to the "Hunters of the air" adventure station. Do you know the wingspans of the red kite, hawk, buzzard and falcon? Stand in front of the silhouettes of the birds with your arms outstretched and test who is bigger: the birds or you?
Then you come to the XXL nesting box. Open it and discover the different bird nesting boxes.
Walk back to the forest stadium on the squirrel trail.
There is an information board at the start of the trail to help us find our way.First we follow the Eichhörnchenweg to the Hexentanzplatz and further uphill until we reach the junction marked with the eagle owl symbol. (You can find a detailed description of the Eichhörnchenweg in the tour Walderlebnispfad Eichhörnchenweg in Neuenrade). We turn right onto the Eagle Owl Trail and pass the insect hotel "Zur schnarchenden Hummel". There we can sit on a bench and enjoy the view of the Lenne valley. An information board tells us what we can see.We then keep left and walk uphill along a narrow path to Falkenlei. There we can take a short break at the refuge. As in some places before, there are information boards here. What wild animals are there in our forest? What tracks do the forest animals leave in the snow? What mushrooms are there? How well do we know the local woods? Now we turn left back towards Neuenrade.
