Experience the lively atmosphere of the Glörtalsperre local recreation area with its diverse wetland biotopes and wide panoramic views from the Rotthausen heights. In addition to the great scenic charm, the Glörtalsperre with its clean, natural water offers the opportunity for a variety of leisure activities. There are several small circular hiking trails around the lake that invite you to take a walk.
On a short detour, you can take a look at the Glörtalsperre dam, the youth hostel opposite and the "Haus Glörtal" restaurant.
As a special treat, the dam offers a natural beach. There is also a dog beach specially designed for dogs in the Breckerfeld area.
In the summer months, you can stop for refreshments at the self-service counter in a relaxed atmosphere at the bikers' meeting point below Haus Glörtal.

You start the hike from the Rotthausener Höhen hiking parking lot on Rotthauser Straße at the hiking sign. Here you walk down Rotthausener Straße and then turn left along the road towards Reeswinkel on the Dreiecksweg.Leave the farm, Am Mühlenfeld, on your left and after the agricultural path you come back into woodland. Here you turn right onto the forest path, which eventually leads to the A5. Keep to the left.At the next crossroads, leave the marked paths and follow the spur straight ahead. This path runs slightly above the circular trail around the Glörtalsperre dam. Keep right at the next fork. Now follow the circular route to the right in the direction of the Glörmauer.Continue along the X-path via the bikers' meeting point. Walk along the left edge of the parking lot until you reach the junction to the left into the A1 path and follow the A1 sign past the youth hostel to the inlet of the Glörbach stream, up to the 2nd bridge with wooden railings at the end of the dam.On the right behind the bridge, follow the S path along the Glörbach to the asphalt road. Turn left here and stay on the road until after the left-hand bend. Then turn right again onto the forest path marked A8. Cross the tarred road at the top (connection Rotthausen / Krausenbuche) and follow the road in the direction of the hostel. The A8 sign leads you to the "Zum Nöckel" restaurant on Rotthausener Straße. Diagonally above the restaurant on the right-hand side, you are back at the starting point in the hikers' parking lot.
