Farmhouse Wippekühl

The two-storey Wippekühl farmhouse was built around 1600 and has been listed as a historical monument by the municipality of Schalksmühle since January 1, 1987. The historic building was extensively renovated in 1995. Today, the place is used as a museum to vividly convey the rural life of earlier times. Numerous pieces of equipment and exhibits can be seen in the outdoor areas and on both side haylofts, including a historic grass mower with a grain reaper and a slurry pump.

On the grounds of the Wippekühl farmhouse there is also a so-called oat box, which was used to store seed in earlier years. The original was demolished in 1965 and rebuilt as a faithful replica by the Association for History and Local History in 2000. It originally belonged to the Worth farmstead, which was several centuries old. With an imposing oak tree in the immediate vicinity, the farmhouse also boasts an impressive natural monument.

Since the farmhouse was reopened in October 1995, it has been used as a venue for concerts, which are organized by members of the "Friends of the Farmhouse". Civil weddings have also been possible in the special ambience of this location since 1998.

The Wippekühl parking lot, not far from the farmhouse, is also the starting point of the themed hiking trail "VolmeSchatz Wald - Unser Wald: Vergangenheit, Gegenwart, Zukunft". An information board at the starting point provides an overview of the route.
