As guests in the forest, we show understanding, respect and correct behavior to ensure the use, protection and recreation of our forest.
The Sauerland is associated with the idea of extensive forests, woodlands and forests. But what about the region's "treasure"? Hiking theme boards provide easy-to-understand facts about trees and Borke and arouse interest in the preservation of this important natural and cultural asset. A wide variety of media are used to suit the target group: from text and images on the display board to a video documentary that can be accessed via QR code.
The starting point of the 7.9 km loop is just a few meters away from the "Wippekühl" farmhouse. It was built around 1600 and is now a listed building. Inside, it houses a museum with illustrative exhibits about rural life in earlier times. Worth seeing: the farm implements outside, the "Haferkasten" (a granary) and the imposing oak tree.
The themed trail leads along forest and woodland paths and trails over the Worthberg to Halverscheid and back.
Special features along the way: in addition to the information boards with exciting information and some QR codes for further videos or audio tracks, you can also discover an adventure treasure chest and a panoramic picture frame along the way.
A trail over the heights between Schalksmühle and Halver, mostly on wide forest paths, but also with varied path sections and fantastic views.Route characteristicsRoad & asphalt: 0.8 km - Gravel path: 5.3 km Nature trail: 1.4 km - Path sections: 0.4 kmWe start at the Wippekühl parking lot and follow the path in the direction of the farmhouse, which soon appears on the right. Continuing along the path, we first walk slightly downhill before turning right up the hill. The ascent is rewarded with a break on the forest sofa. Now we follow the path for a longer time, keeping left at the next major fork, whereupon we hike downhill again, on the edge of a residential area.Keeping right again at the next fork, we now head back up the Worthberg before crossing the aforementioned heights in the direction of Halverscheid. A short detour to the right through the settlement before the path disappears into the Buchenwald. After a while, we reach a familiar crossroads again, walk back along familiar paths for a while before turning left and finally walking back towards the starting point on a great section of path. In many places, this "uphill-downhill hike" is rewarded with great views.
Footwear suitable for hiking and weatherproof is recommended.
First aid: In an emergency, dial the emergency number 112 and state the rescue point number. Rescue points are access points marked in the forest for rescue vehicles. If the nearest rescue point is not known, your location can be called up directly via AML (Advanced Mobile Location) during the emergency call.
