St. Josef Church Udorf

A separate chapel is first mentioned as early as 1243. The current church, St. Joseph’s Church, was consecrated in 1893. The chapel was built in the Neo-Gothic style and is a brick hall church. It was constructed to replace a previous building that had fallen into disrepair. In 1970, the church underwent extensive renovation; during a further renovation in 2003, the high altar and side altars were restored.

The statue of the church’s patron saint, Joseph of Nazareth, is considerably older than the chapel. It likely originated from one of the earlier churches. The colorfully painted, 85-centimeter-tall sculpture, made of linden wood, is considered an artistic treasure and likely originates from the Papen workshop. It is believed to date from the late 17th century.
Mariengrotte

On July 7, 1935, the residents of Udorf built the Mariengrotte on the Kittenberg. It was built at the highest point so that the Mother of God might hold her protective hands over the village.
