Meschede. Living Meaningfully
Nature and the forest are full of undiscovered surprises because we see, feel, hear, or taste only a very small part of what they have to offer. A few thousand years ago, human senses were even more acute. Today, they are becoming increasingly dulled by unnatural loud noises, garish colors, and the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The SinnePfad offers you the opportunity to sharpen your senses again for vital natural processes that aren’t so loud, garish, or hectic. Embark on a sensory journey of discovery. You might recognize the hammering of the European great spotted woodpecker. But do you know how it locates its prey inside the tree trunk?
Interactive Stations
10 interactive stations along the 2.0 km-long SinnePfad give you the chance to let nature surprise you in a playful way. Living with purpose means being aware of your surroundings and treating them with respect. We humans are in this together with nature.
The Trail
Once you’ve arrived at the entrance to the SinnePfad from Hennesee, follow the path clockwise. If you’re traveling with a stroller, you should use the forest path that runs parallel to it. It’s also recommended to use this alternative route in winter or during wet weather.
Parking
There are plenty of parking options along Lake Hennesee. We recommend using the Hennedamm hiking parking lot (Am Stadtpark 6). From there, you can take the footpath that leads to the dam. If you prefer a more challenging hike, climb the dam via the 333 steps of the Himmelstreppe. Once you reach the dam, walk to the left and follow the path along the shore. You’ll soon see the entrance to the SinnePfad.
You can find the “SinnePfad” flyer (with all the stations and a map) in our download section.
From the Meschede bus station, take bus line S70 (Eslohe) to Meschede, Stadtpark. From there, walk past the Hennedamm Hotel to the dam. At the end of the dam, walk a short distance along the lakeside path until you see the entrance to the SinnePfad on your left. Free parking is available at the Ruhrverband/tennis courts on the street “Am Hennesee,” as well as at the Hennedamm Hotel at “Stadtpark 6.”
