Always follow the hiking trail sign "A8". From the parking lot at the Hennedamm Hotel, go through an underpass to the Hennedamm. Here you will pass the hiking board on which the hiking trails around the Hennesee are marked. Once you reach the Hennedamm, turn left and cross the dam. Then continue to the right along the shore. The path on the eastern shore of the Hennesee leads along the asphalted and relatively flat lakeside path. This is car-free and a popular walking path - always with a view of the Hennesee. At Westfer, the route then climbs uphill and through a forest. At the top, there is a fantastic view of the Hennesee before returning to the lakeshore. The path is marked throughout with the "A8" sign.

Author Tip

If the weather is good, you should not miss out on the Berghausen bathing bay to cool off after your hike. Directly next to it you will also find the modern H1 am See restaurant with a view of the Hennesee.

In the summer months, the Chill'in kiosk right by the dam is open in good weather.

If you don't want to walk the whole way and are looking for a shortcut: On the southern shore of the lake is the Mielinghausen landing stage for the Hennesee passenger boat service, which takes hikers back towards the dam during the summer months.
