The Callerbach dam (Seilersee) was originally built to secure the water supply for the nearby sewage treatment plant.
Construction began in 1913 and was officially approved as a dam on June 10, 1914. The Seilersee is approx. 16 hectares in size and holds up to 500,000 m3 of water with a dam wall of 160 m in length.
The lake is of great importance to Iserlohn as a local recreation area.
Families with children and older people in particular use the walking trails around the Seilersee.
