As a local recreation area, the surrounding area offers rowing and pedal boating, mini golf, swimming in the sports and Solebad pool or in the Schleddenhof outdoor pool as well as ice skating in the ice rink.

The Callerbachtalsperre (Seilersee) was originally built to secure the water supply for the nearby sewage treatment plant.

Construction began in 1913 and was officially approved as a dam on June 10, 1914. The Seilersee is approximately 16 hectares in size and holds up to 500,000 m3 of water with a dam wall of 160 m in length.

The lake is of great importance to Iserlohn as a local recreation area.
Families with children and older people in particular use the walking paths around the Seilersee.
