Processing plant on the Dörnberg (Mining Trail 25)

In addition to the Willibald ore processing plant, the mining operation on the western slope of the Dörnberg also included other buildings, including the washing hut with the masticator's dwelling, the laboratory, the compressor house and the drilling forge.
The washhouse served as a changing room and washroom for the miners. With increasing industrialization, dirty work clothes could be stored on site - initially in lockers, later in metal tubes under the ceiling to save space.
The ore and metal content of the mined materials was regularly tested in the laboratory. The pollution of the surrounding waters was also monitored.
The compressor house supplied compressed air for mining and processing machinery until 1948. After that, underground compressor stations took over this task. A historic compressor can be seen today at the mining museum.
