The topography and landscape of our region make it perfect for the trend sport of mountain biking. The "Eisenwald Trails" in Iserlohn's city forest, created by volunteers, complete the range of options for this popular leisure sport.
The creation of attractive mountain bike trails in the city forest is intended to defuse conflicts between walkers and mountain bikers and reduce the use of wild trails, which sometimes pose a risk to users and walkers.
There are 3 trails with different lengths and levels of difficulty:
The Schmelzbahn (approx. 1 km long) is marked as S1 = beginner / easy. The surface is leveled, paved, with few bumps and berms. It can be ridden slowly but also very fast, all jumps can be avoided.
The racing oven (approx. 350 m) is also classified as S1. The surface is leveled, paved, few bumps, berms, you can ride it slowly but also very fast, all jumps can be avoided.
The first section of the wire roll (pump track, approx. 400 m) is marked as S1 and the second section (approx. 500 m) as S1-S2 = expert/intermediate. The surface is leveled, paved, uneven, some exposed roots, berms. Pumping waves.
Use of the trails is not recommended in the winter months.
For the latest information on whether the trails are closed due to maintenance or forestry work, please refer to the website or Facebook/Instagram page of the Dead Pedals Society e.V. The association looks after the maintenance and care of the trails on a voluntary basis.
