On the Heu, just south of the village, there was a customs post on the old Heidenstraße.
There were many such posts on the Heidenstraße, so some travelers tried to avoid them in order to save money. However, this customs station was strategically placed so that it could overlook a large area, making it impossible to avoid the customs.
