Explore the dairy stations in the idyllic Referinghausen countryside with the whole family. This family-friendly circular route delights with a variety of stations that offer exciting insights into the world of milk production and local agriculture.

The trail meanders gently through the picturesque landscapes of the Hochsauerland district and combines culture, nature and education in a harmonious way. Whether young or old, this trail offers everyone the opportunity to experience nature up close and learn interesting facts about rural life.

Another highlight along the way is the Ebenau Fitness Park: it offers the perfect opportunity to let off steam and test your own fitness. Various stations invite you to get active and experience nature together.

The tour ends at the inviting playground in Referinghausen, where the little ones can let off steam.

Directions

To discover the milk stations in Referinghausen, follow the symbol of Lotte the cow.From the exit sign at the hiking parking lot, follow the road "Zum Ehrenmahl" to the multi-generation square. Here, the trail zigzags uphill along the 'Unter- & Oberholz' open mind places. "Am Steimel" the route leads through the forest to the 3rd station and follow the path to the 4th station. Then turn right, right again at the fork, then left, next fork right to the 5th milk station, continue towards the L872, where you will come to the next milk station, the "Alte Molkerei". From here we continue in the direction of Referinghausen to station 7, then turn left to the last milk station at the playground, where we end the short tour.

Sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather.

Safety guidelines

Note: There is a steep ascent to panel 3 directly from the village. This section of the route is not suitable for baby carriages.

Author Tip

The playground at the end of the milk stations offers lots of fun - perhaps take some provisions with you for a picnic at the end! There is a vending machine with drinks and snacks in the village center.

From the east: A44 Dortmund-Kassel to exit Wünnenberg-Haaren, B480 Brilon, Olsberg, direction Winterberg and then to Küstelberg, Deifeld, Referinghausen.

From the Rhineland: A4 Cologne-Olpe to the Olpe junction, take the A45 towards Dortmund to the Olpe exit, B55 towards Lennestadt, B236 Schmallenberg, Winterberg and then to Küstelberg, Deifeld, Referinghausen.

From the west: A44 Dortmund-Kassel, exit Kreuz Werl, A445 Meschede to Bestwig, Olsberg, direction Winterberg and then to Küstelberg, Deifeld, Referinghausen.

From the north: A7, A2, A33 to Wünnenberg-Haaren interchange, B480 Brilon, Olsberg, direction Winterberg and then to Küstelberg, Deifeld, Referinghausen.

From the south: A5 from Frankfurt to Gießen, A485/B3 exit Marburg, B252 Wetter, B236 Hallenberg-Winterberg and then to Küstelberg, Deifeld, Referinghausen.
