On the Heu, a little south of town, there used to be a customs post on the old Heidenstraße.
There were many such stations along the Heidenstraße, so some travelers tried to take a wide detour around them to save money. However, this customs station was strategically located so well that it commanded a view of a wide area, making it impossible to bypass the customs checkpoint.
