The Anno Chapel is located in the oldest part of Grafschaft Abbey - in the tower basement of the former Baroque church. The walls date back to the time of the first Benedictine monastery, which was founded in 1072 by Archbishop Anno II of Cologne.
After secularization in the early 19th century, the monastery was dissolved and the church demolished. The tower with the Anno Chapel was preserved. The convent has been the seat of the Borromean Sisters since 1947. The community took over the reconstruction and today runs a specialist hospital for pulmonary medicine.
The chapel contains a cross reliquary with relics of St. Anno. A medieval crucifix (copy) hangs above the altar; further relics are hidden in the back of the Christ.
A stained glass window shows "Christ in the winepress". The bronze tabernacle shows a Torah scroll with a burning bush. The original comes from the Winkelmann workshop.
