New partner in the strong Sauerland network

The brine & moor spa Bad Westernkotten in the district of Soest becomes a member of Sauerland Tourism

To coincide with the 50th anniversary of its state recognition as a spa, Bad Westernkotten is joining Sauerland-Tourismus e.V. as a member with retroactive effect from January 1, 2025, thus expanding the circle of partners who work together for sustainable and successful tourism development in "Germany's inspiring outdoor region". With this step, the municipality in the district of Soest is strengthening its tourism positioning and at the same time benefiting from the strong Sauerland brand and the association's extensive range of services and networks.

Membership offers Bad Westernkotten the opportunity to become even more intensively involved in the regional tourism strategy and to benefit from Sauerland Tourism's many years of expertise. The aim is to further develop the spa's tourism potential and attract visitors in a targeted manner. "We are delighted that Bad Westernkotten has decided to become part of our network. Together, we want to further increase the region's appeal to tourists and promote sustainable projects," explains Dr. Jürgen Fischbach, Managing Director of Sauerland-Tourismus e.V. Bad Westernkotten's membership underlines the Sauerland's long tradition as a health region with its almost 30 award-winning spas, health resorts, air resorts, Kneipp spas and recreational resorts, which is to be expanded in the future with new, innovative offers.

The new member resort brings a diverse portfolio to the network. Particularly noteworthy are the historical sights such as the imposing Stiftskirche, Schloss Erwitte and the Schäferkämper Watermill as well as the Hellweg-Sole-Thermen in Bad Westernkotten with its numerous other wellbeing offers, which attract guests from near and far. The scenic location in the middle of the Hellwegbörde also offers excellent conditions for leisure activities such as cycling, hiking and cultural discovery tours.

By joining, Bad Westernkotten is also underlining its ambitions in the field of sustainable tourism. As a member of a region certified by TourCert as a "Sustainable Destination", the spa town benefits from important impulses to make its offers sustainable and to meet the ecological, social and economic requirements of today. The future cooperation with Sauerland-Tourismus e.V. includes involvement in joint marketing campaigns, for example in the health sector, the use of digital platforms to address guests and regular exchanges at specialist events and workshops.

"Our goal is to further sharpen Bad Westernkotten's tourism profile and appeal to new target groups," emphasizes Sven Hoppe, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Heilbad Westernkotten GmbH. "With our commitment, we want to do our part to further enrich the destination's already diverse range of offers and thus further strengthen the Sauerland as a tourism destination known throughout Germany."
