St. Anthony's Chapel in Brilon-Thülen
St. Anthony's Chapel in Brilon-Thülen
The start and finish of Tour 9 on the trail of the "Fickeltünnes" is the small St. Antonius Chapel in Brilon-Thülen. From there, the route leads via Hoppecke past Diemelsee towards Willingen. A detour to the attractive tourist town with its countless leisure and gastronomy facilities is well worthwhile. The tour leads through Willingen-Usseln towards Medebach. The village of Düdinghausen, which is over 900 years old and well worth a visit, has an eventful history. (Tip: Dreggestobe Museum).
The next stop is the chapel dedicated to St. Anthony in Oberschledorn. The route continues almost along the Hessian state border through the old Hanseatic town of Medebach (numerous places to stop for a bite to eat) to Hallenberg. On the way, you will find another trace of the "Fickeltünnes" in Braunshausen at the St. Antonius Chapel there. After a short stop, the route passes through Hallenberg (tip: historic town center, good restaurants, Hallenberg open-air stage). Along the Nuhne to Züschen and then via a side road (caution: road damage) up to the Neuastenberg winter sports center (tip: detour to Kahler Asten, Kartfun-Eventcenter Neuastenberg go-kart track). Continue via Altastenberg to Siedlinghausen via a beautiful, winding little side road (detour to the center of Winterberg with many leisure and gastronomy offers).
From Siedlinghausen, the tour leads via Winterberg and the village of Niedersfeld to another encounter with the "Fickeltünnes", the St. Antonius church Wiemeringhauesen. The route continues via Brunskappel to Bestwig, across the Ruhrtal from Nuttlar up a winding (be careful!) route towards Warstein to the historic village of Kallenhardt (tip: Landhaus Heid pancake house in the village). Through Warstein (detour to the Warstein brewery) via Belecke to the small village of Uelde. Here you will find the St. Antonius Chapel in Uelde, again with the image of our "Fickeltünne". Back to the village of Effeln, the route continues over almost flat land to Rüthen-Ostereiden, another stop on our "Fickeltünne", the St. Antonius Church in Osterreiden. Passing the golden village of Büren-Siddinghausen on the left, the route heads towards Brilon-Thülen through the Almetal valley. (Tip: in the village of Alme, visit the Almequellen springs, which are well worth seeing).
