Worth a visit to the Sauerland-Seelenorte pilgrimage church in Kohlhagen; nice place to stop for refreshments in the idyllically situated Gut Ahe.

Directions

We first hike from the hiking parking lot via the Silberg cross and the Kophelle to Brachthausen and enjoy some wonderful views over the hiking area of the municipality of Kirchhundem - in the middle of the Rothaarsteig. In Brachthausen, the Nikolaus-Platz at the church invites you to linger before continuing on the A1 circular route steadily uphill to Kohlhagen and the pilgrimage church. After a contemplative stop at Kohlhagen, it is worth making a short detour to the "Ahe" and the farm café. From the pilgrimage church, the route continues along the processional path to Wirme and from there along a steep path to the Wegescheid hiking parking lot (alternative route along the road; this route is recommended in wet weather).

Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?

But in an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the hiking trail network in the Lennestadt & Kirchhundem region is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.
