Far away from roads, this tour offers the opportunity to experience nature first-hand. Magnificent views of the Lennetal valley, a stalking walk on the forest adventure trail and the summit climb to the Rinsleyfelsen, one of the Sauerland-Seelenorte, are among the highlights of the trail.
The Saalhausen Adventure Trail begins in the middle of the forest, at the Rinsleyfelsen (S) hiking parking lot. First follow the A7 markings further into the forest and Wenden right at the first crossroads. A few meters later, a playground with a seating area and water treading pool offers forest adventures by the Springacker stream. The hiking trail continues to climb gently. After 700m, the S-path turns right, while A7 continues straight ahead up the valley. Spruce, beech, alder, hazelnut and birch trees keep you entertained. You pass a side stream, ascend through an area of spruce trees and reach a rest area in a windbreak (1). This is where the detour on the forest adventure trail begins (marked with a white fir tree). From the rest area, walk to the right to the balancing beam, before descending significantly to the right on a roughly gravelled forest path. On the slope you meet the S-path and turn right. Now the descent is more leisurely, accompanied by information boards. From time to time there are great views of the Lenne valley. At a bench (2), separate from the S and follow a forest path uphill to the right. At the crest, the forest adventure trail turns sharply right in an area of wind breaks onto a path that climbs the ridge of the mountain. Along the way, benches provide an opportunity to rest and information boards provide information on the flora. The next surprise awaits in the oak forest: a viewing platform (3) offers a box seat for observing wild boar, deer or badgers standing life-size in the forest. The trail continues along a path and after 3.6 km you reach the rest area (1) at the junction to the A7. The A7 continues uphill on a wide forest path. A tall spruce forest provides shade. At the next signpost, turn sharp right onto A7. You don't stay on the forest path parallel to the slope for long, as the adventure begins just a little later at a wooden signpost! Here you turn left onto a narrow path that leads very steeply, partly with rock steps, up to the impressive Rinsleyfelsen (4). The reward at the top is a great view of the valley! You then return to the A7 and walk leisurely uphill on the wide forest path. After another view of Saalhausen, the route takes you around the Rinsenberg in the majestic Buchenwald. After a crossroads, you continue around the mountain in the spruce forest until you reach the "Am hohen Lehnberg" crossroads. Here, Wenden A7 turns right towards the Lehnberg spring. Along the side of the slope, you will experience pure hiking pleasure in the varied forest. After 6.4 km, the wide forest path ends and you walk left on a narrow serpentine path very steeply down to Lehnborn (5). The descent continues and ends at a forest path, where you turn left at A7. Climbing slightly, you circle a side valley before the path finally descends and leads back into the Gleierbach valley. Not far from the water treading facility, the trail comes full circle and a little later the attractive circular tour ends again at the hikers' parking lot (S).
There are no refreshment stops along the way. You should therefore take rucksack provisions with you. At the end of the tour, there are refreshment stops in Gleierbrück or Saalhausen.
Don't skip the arduous but really worthwhile detour to the Rinsleyfelsen. There is a steep path to climb up the rocks, but in good weather the view from the top is fantastic.
