On the trail of milk with Lotte the cow
The themed trail takes us to eight milk stations: A walk with lots of fun and information about milk!
Explore the cowshed, enjoy sweeping panoramic views over the Sauerland's "Tuscany", have a picnic with delicious dairy products and learn about regional specialties along the way. All this and much more is on offer at eight milk stations in and around Referinghausen, where information boards provide information about milk production, nature and the landscape and their interrelationships.
At the last milk station, there is a great playground where you can let off steam and have fun!
By the way: Referinghausen has more cows (around 400) than inhabitants (around 250)!
To discover the Milk Trail in Referinghausen, simply follow the symbol of Lotte the cow. From the exit sign at the hiking parking lot, follow the road "Zum Ehrenmahl" to the multi-generation square. Here, the trail zigzags uphill along the 'Unter- & Oberholz' open mind places. "Am Steimel" the route leads through the forest to the 3rd station and follow the path to the 4th station. Then turn right, right again at the fork, then left, next fork right to the 5th milk station, continue towards the L872, where you will come to the next milk station, the "Alte Molkerei". From here we continue in the direction of Referinghausen to station 7, then turn left to the last milk station at the playground, where we end the short tour.
Note: There is a steep ascent to panel 3 directly from the village. This section of the trail is not suitable for baby carriages.
Current information about our forests - The bark beetle and its consequences
The forest owners are endeavoring to take the necessary measures in the forests and remove the damaged wood. However, due to the extent of the damage, this work cannot be completed in a short space of time. The clearing and reforestation of the damaged forest stands will therefore take a long time and sometimes lead to disruptions such as closures and detour in the forests. This must always be taken into account when visiting the forest.
We therefore appeal to everyone who cares about the forest:
