Halver: Herpinetal circular route (A1)

Follow the A1 signposts. After a few meters along Frankfurter Straße, cross the road at the miniature golf course. Continue along a footpath to the residential area on Herpiner Weg. Before the bridge over the tracks of the Schleifkottenbahn, the path turns right. You walk past a retirement home into the forest in the upper Hälvertal valley. Leave the nearby source of the Halver, also known as Hälversprung, on your right.The forest soon comes to an end and above the Winkhof hiking meeting point, the route continues along the edge of the forest back to the railroad line. Please note: the meadow path is not always recognizable as such! Cross under the old railroad line at the small underpass. After Siepen, you return to the upper Hälvertal valley, where the stream is dammed to form several small ponds that have been adopted by a variety of water birds. You circle the largest pond. The trail now follows the Halver up to Halver's Herpine outdoor pool. You return to Herpiner Weg on the road downhill from the outdoor pool. After the familiar bridge over the Schleifkottenbahn, you return to the starting point as on the outward route.
