Parking lot Himmelpforten memorial
The start is the parking lot of the Himmelpforten memorial in the Brandholz community forest. From there, the trail leads into the Arnsberg forest to the Steetsberg settlement, before taking a narrow, steeper path to a bridge that crosses the Möhne and offers a direct view of the Möhne weir. The route then continues along a footpath, past the sports field and the Schützenhalle, towards Höingen. The hike leads along an ascending forest path through the Hohlsiepen to the village of Höingen. Along the edge of the village, past farms, you return to the village of Niederense with a view of the Sauerland. Once there, you cross the village until you cross the Möhne again. Before the hike ends at the starting point, you walk a short distance through the forest to the Himmelpforten Monastery memorial, where the abbey church of the Cistercian monastery once stood.
7.4 km circular hike through the Arnsberg forest with wonderful views of the fields and the Möhne with its weir. Continue through the villages of Höingen and Niederense and finish with a visit to the Himmelpforten memorial.
z. Between Lisbon and Porto, for example, the infrastructure is not yet so well developed. The stages from one accommodation to the next can therefore be long and adventurous.
