During this walk through the village of Bracht, everything revolves around the local poet Christine Koch, whose life and work you will learn more about.
We start the hike at the hiking parking lot in Bracht, Auf der Wehrscheid. The circular route is marked with a special black sign "Christine-Koch-Rundweg".Lauschpohl no. 20 is installed at the parking lot. This tells the story of the poet's life and two poems can also be heard. To hear what is being said, first turn the crank until the green LED lights up, then press the start button for the story. The information board shows the route of the circular trail and provides further information. Now cross the main road and follow the slightly uphill path to the next junction. Wenden downhill to the right. The first plaque with a poem by Christine Koch is located next to a holy hut. A bench invites you to linger, with a beautiful view of Bracht.Further along the trail, you can see far into Hawerland and on to the Hunau. Turn right at the next junction and then left again after 100 meters towards Koch's Heiligen Häuschen. This is where the former "Heidenstraße" and the so-called "Kriegerweg" meet. The listening post no. 11 installed there allows us to hear an interesting conversation between Napoleon and Charlemagne. The path now leads us into the village to the Christine Koch memorial. Below the square is a memorial stone from the Way of St. James, which runs along here. Let's now turn towards Christine Koch Street and walk to the church and then turn right to the village center. Here at the crossroads, continue left to the Bracht cemetery. The next plaque with a poem is next to the poet's grave. Now return to the village and continue left at the crossroads to the next junction on the left, in the direction of an anodizing plant. The next point we come to is again a small sanctuary, where a third plaque with a poem has been erected, followed by the rest of the path below the "Helle" towards the hiking parking lot, the starting point of our circular route.
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and hiking signposts. All signposts along this trail are designated as rescue points with official location numbers.
