It served as a replacement for the dilapidated, smaller chapel, which was built in 1669 during the Thirty Years' War. In times of great need, the people of Eversberg prayed to St. Roch, the patron saint against the plague, and vowed to build this chapel.
St. Roch's name day is on August 16. Therefore, every year on the second Sunday in August, the people of Eversberg go in procession to the chapel and fulfill the vow of their ancestors.
