The reservoir is centrally located in the Olsberg district. A path (Weg zum Stausee) leads from the town center directly to the weir system.
The lake is used to generate electricity and therefore unfortunately cannot be used by boats or swimmers. A walk around the lake is definitely worthwhile. You can hike along the naturally preserved path through the oak grove, which is well marked and signposted with the signs 1, 09 or X1. You can return to the town center via the Ruhr bridge on the other side of the lake.
