There are many rumors about the witches' tower in Olpe. Whether witches were really burned there is questionable. The old building was originally a farm building.

Built in the 14th century, it is now the oldest surviving secular building in the city. Its name suggests that "witches" were held captive in it
, but this cannot be proven. There is evidence of witch trials and the last execution on the Bratzkopf in 1696.
