Haus Kupferhammer

The "Haus Kupferhammer" museum in Warstein was the industrial residence of two families for 250 years: the Möllers and the Bergenthals. Surrounded by farm buildings, a tower, canal, ponds and the Bergenthal Park opposite, the ensemble on the river Wäster is an expression of the upper middle-class lifestyle of the 19th century in particular. The "Haus Kupferhammer" museum owes its name to the trade of the Möller family who built it: copper processing. Its current appearance is largely due to the factory owner and privy councillor of commerce Wilhelm Bergenthal, born in Warstein in 1805, who acquired the property in 1849, modernized it and turned it into the center of his iron industry, which was established on the Bundesstraße 55. The "Verein der Freunde und Förderer des Museums Haus Kupferhammer in Warstein" has been bringing life to the museum since 2006. It has successfully developed the former industrialist's villa into a "Center for Art, Culture and Music - in the middle of Warstein". Varied art exhibitions are held several times a year, as well as monthly lectures on regional historical, ecological and socio-political topics. The classical Kupferhammer concerts have also been held here for decades. In addition, civil weddings can be held in the magnificent ambience of the ballroom.
