The Esmecke-Stausee reservoir is located in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park to the north-west of the village of Wenholthausen. The reservoir belongs to the municipality of Eslohe and was built in 1971 from rock fill material.
The beautiful lake offers bathing fun for young and old, as the water warms up quickly. As there is a large sunbathing lawn in an adjacent bay, there are plenty of places to lie down. The DLRG station also ensures sufficient safety. The lake not only offers swimming opportunities, but is also open to anglers. The rest hut at the Einbergsee is managed.
