Viewpoint/viewing tower
The Buttenturm in Obermarsberg impresses with its history and location. Although only half of it has been preserved, it offers a breathtaking view over the Diemeltal. It was once used to monitor horsemen and has a mysterious former prison cellar. A perfect destination for history buffs and view-seekers alike.

The Buttenturm (outer tower) on the north side of the hill is now preserved only halfway up. It has a square floor plan measuring 6.2 meters on each side, with 1.5-meter-thick rubble stone walls and two vaulted stories above a 5-meter-deep cellar that was formerly used as a prison. From the Buttenturm, there is an ideal view of the Diemeltal. In the past, this allowed watchers to observe passing horsemen and, in the event of an attack, to fire upon them.
