The gardens of Schloss Hovestadt are a valuable example of a late French garden from the middle of the 18th century. The gardens were probably laid out between 1740-60 in the form in which they appear after three years of reconstruction work was completed in the summer of 1997.

The baroque structure included visual axes, symmetry and cell-like seclusion - the garden sections consist of an inner and outer area.
