Sauerland Forum: New concepts and innovative approaches

The region's tourism industry comes together for a Sauerland-wide network meeting

Important future topics for the industry were the focus of this year's Sauerland Tourism Forum at the Kur- und Bürgerhaus Saalhausen. More than 140 participants accepted the association's invitation to find out about the latest developments. The representatives of hotels, restaurants, excursion destinations, local authority tourism organizations and business development agencies were rewarded with valuable ideas for their work.

"We are delighted with the enormous response to the Sauerland Forum," said Dr. Jürgen Fischbach, Managing Director of Sauerland Tourism, about the high number of participants from the entire destination. "This confirms that we have established another important fixture in our internal marketing activities with this format and are thus proactively promoting joint exchange."

The Sauerland Forum had a lot to offer, especially from a technical perspective. After the welcome by Chairman Philipp Scharfenbaum, District Director of the Olpe district, the new bike marketing concept was presented in the form of keynote speeches, which represent the cornerstones for the future reorientation in all areas, and the next steps in the sustainability process with the newly launched "Smart Tourism Lab" funding project were also discussed. The subsequent discussion round, which included Prof. Dr. Susanne Leder from the Südwestfalen University of Applied Sciences and Jörg Nolte, Managing Director of the Arnsberg Hellweg-Sauerland Chamber of Industry and Commerce, was followed by the presentation of the newly developed inland marketing concept and a brief outlook on the tourism association's other future projects.

"It is important to us to provide all players in the industry with information about our work via various channels and to actively involve them in the processes," continued Fischbach. "This is the only way we can achieve our ambitious goals together and make the most of the region's strengths." Further opportunities for intensive exchange and in-depth discussions were then offered afterwards at the cozy Sauerland evening.
