Welver - Kult(o)ur

The northern half-route with a length of approx. 30 km is designated as a "Kult(o)ur" route. Along the route, you can marvel at the historical cultural assets and architectural monuments of the municipality.

But nature is not neglected on this route either. With a bit of luck, you can watch birds from the Ahsewiesen observation hut just before Hachenei. The Ahsewiesen is an extensive wet meadow area where curlews, lapwings, marsh harriers, spoonbills, teals, garganeyes, white storks, meadow pipits and red-backed shrikes breed. Migratory birds such as bean geese and white-fronted geese, cranes, green and redshank can be observed here.

The start is in the historic monastery village of Kirchwelver. Past the two churches, the former monastery building and the local history house, the route leads through the forest to Dorfwelver. Here you pass the site of the former "Haus Matena". Shortly before Dinker, you cross the Ahse and find a wonderful viewpoint of the renaturalized Ahse meadows. Further on, you pass the St. Othmar church. Another former knight's seat is located in the garden of the rectory. A 16th-century spoke building has been preserved here, which stands on an artificial island.
The route continues to Eilmsen. There you can stop for refreshments at the Gasthof Schlotmann.
