The walk takes you past a forest sofa where you can enjoy the view of Hawerland and beyond. In good weather, you can also watch the take-offs and landings at Rennefeld airfield.
At the parking lot on the K25, cross the road and turn left with the WE1 hiking sign in the direction of Werpe Kreuz. All along the way you will enjoy beautiful views of the Hawerland, which will accompany you for almost the entire walk. At the end of the path, turn right, pass the "Werpe Kreuz" memorial and a little further up you will come to a larger square with the Schmallenberg Schnadestein. Here you turn sharp right onto the path without the "Weitsicht" hiking sign and walk below the edge of the forest with beautiful views to the Waldsofa.Note:Due to timber harvesting work, there are currently many branches on the last part of the trail (from X27). We therefore recommend turning back at Wolkenbak and taking the same route back (approx. 2 km). After a rest, continue your hike along the path, walk through a small section of forest, enjoy another beautiful view and then come across the X27 hiking sign. Turn right and follow the path downhill towards Werpe. At the end of the path, turn right again and return to your starting point.
We recommend sturdy footwear and sufficient food and drink for your hike.
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on hiking signs.
Note:
Due to timber harvesting work, there are currently many branches on the last part of the trail (from X10). We therefore recommend turning back at the Waldsofa and taking the same route for the return journey (return journey approx. 2 km).
