Sanssouci train station
Sundern town hall square
The day hike begins in the small village of Sanssouci and continues via Beckum and the Brachtenberg towards Sorpesee. On the way, you will pass the Meschleder Mühle mill and the Heinrichsquelle spring, whose water offers cooling refreshment.
After a few descents, the Sorpesee comes into view. Here you pass the gate to the Waldroute and cross the lake bridge. Here you will find the Amecke Brücke landing stage and a nice place to linger and watch the hustle and bustle on the lake. The "Heimathafen" café invites you to take a short break right by the water. On warm days, there is also an ice cream van with delicious refreshments. The stations of the Airlebnisweg, which leads around the reservoir, invite you to try out and explore.
From the Julianenhütte parking lot, the trail leads through numerous nature reserves with the lake behind you towards the "Sagenhafter Schatzgräber" (legendary treasure digger) station. The destination of the hike is the small town of Sundern, with numerous places to stop for refreshments. This tour can be combined with Tour 4 on the Waldroute as a multi-day variant.

Information about the rescue signs on the Sauerland-Waldroute
Most hiking trails run away from towns and settlements and every hiker has thought about what would happen if an emergency were to occur. How can I be found here? Where am I anyway? Can the emergency services reach me?
In an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the Sauerland-Waldroute is equipped with so-called rescue signs throughout. The green and white stickers attached to the posts of the signposts have a number that you must give when making an emergency call. This means that the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.
