Obersorper Quellenweg

The hike begins at the Obersorpe Hiking Portal, across from St. Joseph Parish Church. From there, follow the X10 trail marker uphill as you leave the village. After about 700 meters, you’ll come across the trail markers for the Sorpetalweg (a white “S” in a diamond shape on a black background) and the “Sauerland Höhenflug Rundweg” (a white “H” on a blue background). Follow these signs to the right toward Rehsiepen and the “Altes Forsthaus.” After about 500 meters, you’ll reach a rest bench with an earthen fridge and a beautiful view of Obersorpe.The hike continues toward Rehsiepen. After a total of about 3.5 km, you’ll come to a fork in the trail. Turn left there and hike to the “Altes Forsthaus Rehsiepen” (Old Rehsiepen Forest House) from 1885.Now walk back without following any trail markers and then continue downhill into the village of Rehsiepen. At the “new” forester’s house there, you’ll come to the L742 road. Follow the L742 to the left for about 100 meters, then turn right. After about 300 meters, you’ll come across the Sorpetalweg trail marker again and follow it to the right, or straight ahead. Follow this marker all the way to Rellmecke. The trail takes you past the Rehsiepen scenic viewpoint, offering a beautiful view of the village, the SGV shelter with its footbath—which invites you to take a break—and the Obersorpe sports field. On the path between Rehsiepen and the SGV shelter—known as the “Wurzelweg”—you’ll pass by a particularly large number of small springs.In Rellmecke, turn right toward the L742. At the Dünnebacke Art Forge, you can refresh yourself and take a break. From the art forge, walk back a few meters and turn left toward the Rellmecke hiking parking lot. Follow the A1 trail marker until you come across the Sorpetalweg sign again. Follow this sign to the right and you’ll soon reach the swiveling landscape picture frame at Rellmecke / Mittelsorpe. Enjoy the view here. Continue following the Sorpetalweg and Sauerland Höhenflug Rundweg trail markers until you reach the giant bench with the Obersorpe landscape picture frame. After about 500 meters, you’ll come across the X10 trail marker again, which will take you right back to Obersorpe.
