From the spa gardens in Bad Westernkotten, the route takes you past the picturesque Schäferkämper watermill and into the fields. After crossing the B1, you reach the first highlight of the tour. The Pöppelschetal nature reserve, which covers around 450 hectares and is the largest dry valley in the district of Soest. The circular route leads through a fascinating landscape where various Schledden valleys come together and are home to rare plant and animal species. Look out for the red-backed shrike, tree pipit and turtle dove, which nest here, as well as the rare yellow-bellied toad. The old quarries and Weide tell of the human use of the valley over the centuries and offer an impressive contrast to the untouched nature.

The path now leads back towards Bad Westernkotten. However, it remains on the eastern edge. Because the next stop there is the Muckenbruch, a protected moor. Covering an area of almost 98 hectares, this fen offers a variety of habitats, including swamp forests, reed beds and near-natural watercourses. Here, too, it is possible to encounter the rare yellow-bellied toad.
Via the trout trail, you now return to Bad Westernkotten in the heart of the spa town. The spa park now invites you to relax or actively unwind.
The two large Gradierwerks provide a picturesque backdrop and invite you to breathe in the healthy salt air. The Kneipp facility with foot and arm basins is filled with Bad Westernkotten brine water from April to October. The barefoot path with various natural materials ensures healthy walking pleasure and combines harmoniously with the Kneipp facility.

The low ropes course offers an exciting challenge for the adventurous. Here you can put your sense of balance, agility and coordination to the test. With twelve varied obstacles, team spirit and fun are guaranteed!

This tour is an experience for nature lovers, families and anyone who wants to experience the beauty of nature up close. The variety of landscapes and the tranquillity of nature invite you to be enchanted.
