The Kinderland cycle route starts in Schmallenberg at the timber and tourism center. There are a few meters of elevation gain on the tour, but the effort is rewarded with great views and many experiences along the way.
The yellow label of this route has the number 1 (blue) and is shortened from the main route of the Kinderland cycle route via the route with the number 4 (green) in Bad Fredeburg.
Along the way, families become explorers. Playgrounds, ponds and pedal pools invite you to take a fun break, streams promise cooling off and a good opportunity to splash around. The adventure of nature beckons everywhere: animals along the way such as horses, goats, donkeys and cows. With a bit of luck, you might even catch a glimpse of deer, black storks, herons, stags or hares.
Short version no. 1 (blue) and no. 4 (green)The Kinderland cycle route starts at the Schmallenberg tourist information office with the yellow logo no. 1 and the direction sign blue arrow in the direction of the villages of Fleckenberg, Lenne, Schmallenberg Lennepark, Grafschaft, Almert, Oberkirchen, Winkhausen, Niedersorpe, Holthausen, Bad Fredeburg (curry stop at the Wehrscheid). There you will find logo no. 4 (green) where you turn left onto the SauerlandRadring. After approx. 6 km you will reach Schmallenberg. The route is approx. 40 km long.
Wearing a bicycle helmet should be a matter of course for all cyclists.
We recommend that you bring sufficient food and drink.
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on the hiking signs.
Even learning is fun on the Kinderland cycle route. On the family adventure trail in Schmallenberger Land, the slate mining and local history museum, or in the railroad model layout in Grafschaft and at other sights, you will learn a lot about the country and its people.
