A hike on the "Historical Trail" past the "Alte Schanzen" and the "Heidenstraße", a medieval trade and pilgrimage route. At the Hubertushütte we look out over the village of Nordenau in the Schmallenberg Sauerland. The ascent to Altastenberg takes place below the Singerberg.
We walk from the Haus des Gastes in the direction of Astenstraße and turn onto the "Historic Path" opposite the Hotel Altastenberg in the direction of the chapel and "Alte Schanzen". First, we can admire the fortifications of the medieval "Heidestrasse" at the "Drei Linden". Shortly afterwards, you can take a detour to the Hubertushütte with a view of Nordenau. Back on the hiking trail, the route descends past the elevated reservoir into the Nesselbach valley. We cross the country road and reach the "Kuhlmanns Siepen". The ascent to Altastenberg takes place below the "Singerberg" (approx. 700m). This is followed by a slight ascent to the signpost at Hotel Kirchmeier, from where we return to the village of Altastenberg.
