From one natural beauty to the next - delightful contrasts always provide new impressions. From the cycle point at the station through the green Ruhr Valley to the blue Hillebachsee lake. In the Eschenberg ski area, the lifts are closed for the cycling season - perfect for taking a closer look at the facilities.
The rather steep climb up to Niedersfeld's Hillebachsee is well worth it: surrounded by meadow slopes, the mountain lake glistens in the sun. Here you can watch surfers, wakeboarders and water skiers - a feeling almost like being in Florida.
A little tip: pack your swimsuit in your bike basket! Kids will love a paddling break.
Refreshed, the tour leads through the lush green meadows of the Hillebach valley via Hildfeld and Grönebach past the source of the Ruhr. Here it is worth making a short detour to the pile houses with interesting information about nature. On the last few meters back to Winterberg, the Ruhrkopf and Dumel rise proudly above the landscape.
Start: Radpoint at Winterberg station in the direction of the traffic circle. At the traffic circle, turn right 200 m along the B 480, cross the road and turn left down into the valley.Cycle along the unsealed dirt track for about 2 km into the Ruhr Valley and follow the Ruhr Valley cycle path along the left-hand side of the valley. This leads past the old Ruhrmühle mill and the Eschenberg ski area to Niedersfeld. At the entrance to the town, cross the B 480 to the right and immediately turn left again into Am Ruhrgrund. After 200 m, turn right up the steep Rimbergweg to the Hillesee lake.Cross the dam to the Christopherushütte and continue straight ahead, always slightly uphill, over the railroad embankment of the former Steinhelle - Medebach narrow-gauge railroad to the entrance to Hildfeld. Then turn left into Hildfelder Straße and after 200 m follow the cycle path into Zur Schweimecke Straße.Now pass the Heidehotel and continue straight ahead into the valley of the Hillebach. After 2 km, turn right twice into the village of Grönebach. There you pass the village fountain and turn right towards Ruipes-Ropes-Hütte and Entenwiese.Follow the G1 and then cross the country road to the Ruhrquelle parking lot.Pass the source of the Ruhr and return to Winterberg via the Ruhrkopf and the Dumel.
