Here you will find magnificent views, diverse nature and the beautiful half-timbered village of Bödefeld.
The circular route leads you partly on gravel and asphalt paths, through various mixed forests and along numerous viewpoints. Once you reach the top of Bödefeld, you will see the first half-timbered houses.
There are numerous places to stop for refreshments in Bödefeld and you can take a break with a delicious piece of cake and a cup of coffee. It's worth taking a look at the church in the village and visiting the village square. Here you can relax by the small stream and enjoy the tranquillity of the village.
The route then climbs steeply along the old Way of the Cross and we walk through spruce and deciduous forest to the small chapel on the Kreuzberg. The reward, a fantastic panorama with a view towards Ramsbeck. We then hike to the Mechterkruse and on the right side of the valley through the Valmetal back to the hiking parking lot.
The hike starts at the hiking parking lot in Valmetal, right next to the Hotel Landgasthof Rüppel. Next to the hotel you will see the first signpost with the hiking sign "VA5". Follow the path uphill, turn left through Valmetal, past the small village of Obervalme and in the direction of Bödefeld.Above the farm in Obervalme, the "VA5" trail leads up the hill to the right. At the crossroads, keep left and follow the main hiking trail "X10" to the nature village of Bödefeld.In the center of Bödefeld, pass the "Hotel Albers" and immediately behind it take the path uphill to the Kreuzberg. Then continue along the "A1" to the Mechterkuse hiking parking lot. From the Mechterkuse, follow the "B3" to the Obervalme, then the "B" path to the Untervalme. Continue left along the "VA2/VA6" to Valme and back to the hiking parking lot in Valmetal.
We recommend that you bring enough food and drink with you.
Visit the Kreuzberg Chapel on the Kreuzberg and the parish church of St. Damian & St. Cosmas with the mysterious "Black Hand" in the middle of the village of Bödefeld.

Take the A 44 Dortmund/Kassel highway to the Arnsberg exit, then take the A445 to Arnsberg and the A 46 to Bestwig. At the Bestwig exit, turn left to the center of Bestwig, then right towards Ramsbeck for approx. 10 kilometers. At the end of Ramsbeck, turn left towards Valme, approx. 3 kilometers.
