Hiking Adventures in the Truftetal
A beautiful 7.5-kilometer loop trail begins at the “Trufterhain” hiking parking lot with the A 3 trail, leading uphill and downhill around the Burgfeld, where fantastic views open up time and again along the way. Following mainly forest trails, the trail first runs along the Trufte River into the quiet valley of the same name, before heading uphill to the Schützenplatz. At the site of the annual bird-shooting competition, you’ll have time for a break and a view of Bad Berleburg’s Altstadt. Following the path through the Ruheforest, you’ll eventually return to the starting point. From here, you can also hike around the Windbrachekopf (A 4; 7.5 km) or head into the Wittengensteiner Panoramaweg or explore the nature park’s gem, the Forest Sculpture Trail(23 km), a gem of the nature park, with its eleven sculptures along the trail, including the Golden Egg. Young hikers can explore a 6-km-long fairy-tale world created by the Brothers Grimm not far from the parking lot.
