The Langscheid Advent wreath at the memorial

Ringstraße 54

59846 Sundern

The wreath is displayed on the Aussichtsturm Langscheid. The tower is 17 m high and can be reached via 78 steps. This means the Advent wreath has a base of 17 m! It has a diameter of 9 m and consists of 1,793 individual aluminum parts. The string lights contain 6,500 LEDs. The four candles are 1.55 m tall and have a diameter of 40 cm, with the actual flame measuring 55 cm in height. They were handcrafted (one-of-a-kind) from synthetic resin.

Since 2016, the wreath has been set up and taken down by a volunteer group from late November through early January.

Traditionally, the popular tower brass concert takes place on the observation tower every Advent Saturday at 5 p.m. During this event, the next candle is always lit. While the tower brass players perform their Christmas concert high above the ground, listeners, bundled up warmly, get into the Christmas spirit. On Christmas Eve (December 24), you can enjoy the tower brass band’s concert as early as 2 p.m.
