One of the best spots in the Schmallenberg Sauerland to watch the sunrise is the entire “village” of Herschede, which consists of just a few scattered farmsteads. The Lauschpohl Trail 1 leads you to a shelter with a panoramic display. From there, you have a great view of the sunrise in every season. (You can also get there by car: If you’re coming from Bracht, don’t take the road to Arpe; instead, keep left (dead end), and you’ll reach the shelter between the farms.)
