It is not certain whether a church already existed in the village during the Middle Ages. There are no written records to confirm this. No records exist regarding the history of the first church, built in 1667; it stood on the site of the present-day building. Construction of a new building began in 1869, and it was consecrated in June 1871. The chapel soon proved to be too small, so in 1900 the Neo-Gothic hall church was expanded and consecrated in 1905. In 1956, an imposing 24-meter-high church tower was erected.
