In 1860, Kleffner, then mine director of the Kilianstollen, created a gathering place for young and old.
Over the years, the facility fell into disrepair, and only ruins remained. In 1994, the Marsberg Tourism Association (Verkehrsverein Marsberg e.V.) began renovating it. On September 4, 2004, the first phase of construction—the creation of the cascades—was inaugurated. In 2008, the second phase of construction began with the restoration of the fountain featuring a spouting lion’s head.
The Paulinenquelle remains a popular destination for day trips.
