Kindelsberg—the landmark of the northern Siegerland region. Standing 618 meters tall, the Kindelsberg has always been a defining symbol of home for the local population and, since the 19th century, a popular destination for hikers and day-trippers, where many singing and gymnastics festivals have taken place. Many clubs in the area around the Kindelsberg, as well as the Krombacher Brewery, feature the tower as an emblem in their coats of arms.

The observation tower on the Kindelsberg was built in 1907 by the Sauerland Mountaineering Club. 123 steps lead up to a platform from which, in good weather, you can see as far as the Siebengebirge near Bonn. Four panoramic panels provide information about what can be seen in the immediate and wider surroundings. The rustic Kindelsberg rest stop offers Siegerland specialties as well as freshly tapped Pilsner.


Kindelsberg Trail


This approximately 14-kilometer circular hiking trail runs along the southeastern side of the Kindelsberg. You can join the trail at various points. Twenty-four information panels provide details about the numerous old mines at Kindelsberg and Martinshardt, as well as other points of interest along the way.


The Legend


The Kindelsberg has been fertile ground for all kinds of legends, a phenomenon largely attributable to the remains of a historic rampart dating back to the High Middle Ages (11th/12th centuries). Click here for the legend “The Maiden of the Kindelsberg”

Directions Please enter "Grubenstraße" into your GPS and drive all the way to the end. Parking The tower is also accessible by car. The hiking parking lot is located about 150 meters below the tower.
