The Hillestausee near Niedersfeld is an 8.5-hectare reservoir in the Rothaargebirge. It is used as a bathing lake for recreational purposes. Its dam, completed in 1979, is the 250-metre-long Hillebach dam in Niedersfeld.
The Hillebach dam offers an ideal base for leisure and recreation in both summer and winter. The Hillebachsee leisure facility is family and child-friendly.
In the new child-friendly bathing bay, young and old can swim, splash around and sunbathe to their heart's content on warm summer days.
A walk around the idyllic Hille lake is a great opportunity for a family outing. Fitness facilities for all ages - children's playground - beach volleyball - bathing beach - water ski facility. The walk around the lake is well lit in the evening.
Fishing
As the water ski lift does not operate all day and all year round, there are still quiet spots for fishing. Fishing is permitted with two rods. Keeping and live bait fish are prohibited. The season runs from April to October 20th. Fishing permits are available from the tourist office or from the parking lot machine at Hillebachsee (no tickets for children here), upon presentation of the official fishing permit.
