  • Ten geopark regions span 3,700 km² and encompass 400 million years of Earth’s history, from the Rhenish Slate Mountains in the west to the Hessian Basin in the east.
  • You decide how far back in time your journey goes: the Geopark showcases different stages in the development of the natural and cultural landscape.
  • Under the motto“Border Worlds,”the Geopark helps foster a deeper understanding of the connections between geology and landscape, and between people and nature.

Directions

By train: The nearest ICE station is in Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. From there, regional trains operated by Deutsche Bahn AG run to the stations in Bad Wildungen, Bad Arolsen, Korbach, Willingen, Brilon-Wald, Wabern, and Borken. By car: Via the A5, A7, A44, and A49 highways, as well as Federal Highways B 3/485, B 236, B 251, B 252, B 253, B 450, B 7, and B 480.
