Baryte from Dreislar—A Valuable Raw Material from Deep Within the Earth
At the former open-pit mine near Dreislar, you can learn about the mineral barite and discover how deep this raw material lies beneath the earth’s surface.
You’ll find the Dreislar quarry on the K56 heading toward Hesborn.
The former open-pit mine is located above the quarry. From the K56, drive toward Medelon and follow the farm road to the former open-pit mine. You can park there and walk just a few meters up the slope.
