Open the gate, enter the park and be surprised by what happens next: While you are taking an unsuspecting stroll, something suddenly crosses your path and you come face to face with a fallow deer. Without a trace of fear, it continues on its leisurely way. Follow him and you will discover more fallow deer grazing in the meadow nearby. You may also come across peacocks in the game enclosure
. 2/3 of the 15.5-hectare game park consists of deciduous woodland and 1/3 of a meadow and orchard area. It was established in 1960 by its namesake, Baron von Wintzingerode, former head of the district of Soest. It is accessible to everyone free of charge. Today, as then, it fulfills a non-exchangeable, therapeutic purpose through the special, free and equal encounter between humans and animals. Children really enjoy being so close to "wild" animals, and you will also be impressed by this new experience.
two insect hotels were set up in Wintzingerode Park in March 2014 as a nesting and hibernation aid, e.g. for bees and bumblebees. A "green classroom" is soon to be created
.we look forward to your visit!
dogs are allowed on a lead.
The wildlife park is always open. Admission is free.
